NEO District Commissioning of Leaders

Commissioning is a temporary recognition of those who are officially in process to become ordained.

Steps to be officially Commissioned include the following actions:

  1. Local Endorsement. Be recognized as a spiritual leader with the ability to teach God’s Word according to our Core Identity statement and called to serve the Lord Jesus in a vocational ministry role for which ordination is appropriate.

  2. District Contact. Contact the district leader who oversees the ordination process, Pastor Joe Cosentino, who will send you an application form along with “A First Look at Charis Identity” and a “Local Church Recognition Form.” Ask Pastor Joe for information about the Mentorship mentioned below so that it fulfills the intended purpose.

  3. Application. Complete the application for ordination and return it to the district leader overseeing the process.

  4. Mentorship. Begin working with a mentor. This person is assigned by your local church or it could be a relationship you already have with someone who is able/willing to mentor you.

  5. Schedule an interview. Let the district leader know when you are ready to be interviewed by other ordained men. He will schedule your Ordination interview.

After the interview the chairman will recommend your ordination to your local church leaders in writing, and they will take the process from there. Common Charis Fellowship practice is to have some form of public dedication of your life to ministry, including the “laying on of hands.”

The NEO District Leadership Team maintains an official list of Commissioned and Ordained leaders. This list is reviewed annually and submitted to Inspire for national recognition. For information about NEO District Dues and NEO Ministerial Standards, go to the “About” drop-down menu.
